It’s the most wonderful time of the year: boycotting black Friday and fare strikes across the pacific northwest blooming and joining the other “civil disturbances” centering around public transit that are occurring across the globe. Out here in Portland, there’s gonna be a big-time for the Fare Strike (also happening in Seattle and other cities in the PNW). It’s gonna be chilly, and we can expect state and fascist violence (Tiny is back by the way).
I have taken a break from most divination while I recover from a mental health crisis, but it’s finally starting to feel the time to pick up the shells and cards. The night before a massive fare strike seems like a good enough occasion to do a little three-card spread
Card 1: 9 of Clubs
This is a card that to put it simply – is a bit weak. but, it still is a good omen, speaking of small victories.
Card 2: Jack of Hearts
This card is more often seen in reading about close and personal relationships – as if with lovers or friends. In the context of mass action; I interpret it as representing close unity with comrades, akin to the togetherness f the early days of Occupy.
Card 3: 7 of Clubs
A sense of urgency here. In order to avoid temporary frustrations, you will have to show some great efforts and be very active and quick.
Bonus Card:
So, as I was putting away my cards, another one sort of “jumped” out of the deck. It was the Ace of Clubs, which is one of the “stronger” cards in cartomancy. The ace of clubs announces serenity through success; this card also signifies that the negative elements in the rest of the cards will be neutralized.
Overall, I feel good about tomorrow’s events. It has been a challenging and tragic year, and sometimes it felt like we have no community. And at certain points we definitely didn’t and still don’t. Hopefully, the fare strike will be effective, and collectively we can keep up the momentum after the fare strike’s demands are met. The coming months are only going to get more difficult, so we gotta get more cohesive.
